SoCal Long Range Gas Gun match Jul 12, 2026. 4th overall, 1st Tactical Light

This was the third gas gun match I had shot in Piru (the first being in 2025) however the first I had shot with a new upper that I built as a shorter and lighter weight option for the upcoming Tactical Games Regional in October and I wanted to break in a bit. I already knew going into this event that it wouldn’t be easy, with the shorter barrel and 8 twist struggling to stabilize the 77gn projectiles I had. It didn’t help that on my first stage I had accidentally selected the wrong profile in my Kestrel, leading to data that was about 1.5 mil more than needed, requiring a quick post-stage reset and zero confirmation to get back on track. The squad was mostly new (to this) shooters which added another layer of stress but also great fun as it’s awesome to get to help people through their first matches. Initially I had taken 3rd overall, however due to some technical complications and a resulting score correction later, I was bumped to 4th place but retained the Tactical Light division win.
